What are the best herbs to beat acne?
Stress, inappropriate diet, hormonal imbalance – those and other factors have an influence on the condition of our skin. If you’re struggling with difficult-to-heal acne, try out my favorite methods!
I have been recently role-playing a herbalist and started preparing my own healthful recipes. I guess I got inspired by the books I’ve recently read. Do you want to know my thoughts on it? Oftentimes, herbs are a much better solution for acne than read-made cosmetics found in drugstores. I’ve learned that nature always wins!
Acne – heal it!
The question is, where does acne come from? In fact, it is a very serious skin problem that has no particular cause. It affects both the young and mature people. It may have a different background, but also severity – for some people, the symptoms will be weaker, for others – stronger.
There are many factors that have an influence on the formation of acne. Starting with the hormonal imbalance, through inappropriate skin care, poor diet and drinking insufficient amounts of water. Ending with diseases that weaken the entire body, chronic stress or environmental pollution. It is worth remembering that the reason for acne in our case does not have to be only one of these factors, but the whole set of them. This makes it even more difficult to find the perfect care solution.
How to take care of acne-prone skin?
I know that acne skin care can be a painful journey. Some say “dry out”, others tell us to moisturize, and yet others scare us that without a dermatologist we cannot do anything. In fact, you need to find the golden means, because everyone will benefit from something different. For instance, not everyone will be happy with the beloved azelaic acid. And all because skin changes have a different cause and there is no universal way to heal acne.
In this post I would like to tell you about how herbs work for acne. However, I’d like to start with a brief reminder of the most important rules. How to take care of acne skin on a daily basis?
- Regular cleansing is most important.
- Remember to exfoliate your skin, but do not overdo it.
- Moisturizing is the priority of care, not drying.
- Minimalism is the key, eg use fewer cosmetics.
Herbs for acne. Yes or no?
Definitely yes! I am a supporter of using natural herbs in daily skin care because I am aware of we can achieve thanks to them. I am a living proof that herbs really can heal acne! How’s it possible?
Herbal medicine has been known for millennia. And, although, for many years we have departed from homemade recipes to gain from innovative cosmetics. Today, even large brands gladly return to herbs, oils, and plant extracts. Herbal therapy is perfectly suitable for supporting dermatological treatment and acne skin care. It is safe and very effective. Especially that herbs for acne are divided into three groups:
- herbs that strengthen the blood vessels,
- herbs detoxifying and detoxifying the body,
- herbs soothing irritations, anti-inflammatory.
BEST HERBS FOR ACNE
Marigold
as most herbs, it has anti-inflammatory, bactericidal and antifungal properties, thanks to which it works perfectly in the alleviation of inflammation and elimination of the causes of acne. Marigold is great for the treatment of rosacea, so it is worth using it regularly. You can make such a marigold tincture yourself or buy in every well-equipped herbal shop.
Wild pansy
a beautiful field flower with amazing properties. It turns out that pansy (this is the popular name of the plant) is the most popular among herbs for acne. It has anti-inflammatory properties, contains flavonoids and saponins, cleanses the skin and tones it. After just a few weeks of drinking an infusion, you can feel a clear improvement in the condition of the skin. Pansy can be bought at any pharmacy.
Witch hazel
it is best known in the form of hydrolate. This is an Indian herb, of which leaves and bark have very interesting properties. All thanks to the fact that they contain tannins, flavonoids, gallic acid, saponins, and some essential oils. A set of such substances is the best that can be used for irritation and blemishes – it has astringent and anti-inflammatory properties, and also perfectly cleanses the skin (it removes excess sebum and tones).
Burdock root
detoxifies, especially in the form of decoction, which should be drunk up to 3 times a day. It contains a lot of vitamin C, which lightens the skin, as well as other compounds with antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and fungicidal properties. Thanks to them, burdock is great for treating acne, pruritus, and dandruff, which is also a skin disease.
Prostate knotweed
is another herb with a bactericidal and anti-inflammatory effect. Bacteria have no chance! Cutaneous lesions are quickly reduced because knotweed contains astringent qualities. It contains a lot of tannins and phenols, thanks to which it perfectly cleanses the skin and treats skin ailments.
Dandelion
it always surprises me, because it is very little known in cosmetics, even though we see it practically every day in meadows, and fields, along roads. Did you know that a dandelion is just a thistle? It cleanses the body of toxins and improves blood circulation. In addition, it strengthens the resistance to bacteria and accelerates the healing process, therefore, in the treatment of acne, it is recommended to make wraps with fresh leaves or white dandelion juice.
Motherwort
contains flavonoids, which are highly recommended in anti-acne treatments. They have an antioxidant effect, which is why the herb prevents deterioration of the skin’s condition and improves blood microcirculation.
