Must-have beauty products for winter. Winter hair and skin care
Hello everyone!
Perhaps it’s an unpopular opinion but I’m glad winter is finally here. For me, it’s the best time to focus on hair and skin care or introduce treatments or products that shouldn’t be used in the summer months. I’m not a fan of multi-step facial care or applying multiple layers of cosmetics when it’s really hot outside. In the wintertime, I’m finally able to enjoy new beauty products and test them for you.
Here are my 5 beloved products and accessories that make surviving the winter months easier. Have fun reading! 🙂
Curling iron hair dryers
I don’t do much with my hair in the summer. All I need is a light mist containing a UV filter while the wind does the styling. I don’t even care too much if I leave the house with wet hair. However, in the winter, I always dry my hair fully and wear a thick winter cap. It’s a pity it’s not the healthiest thing to do in terms of hair care 🙁 The hot air from the dryer and a fluffy cap can cause a lot of irreversible damage. What’s more, after drying, my hair looks frizzy and dry. Styling it with a curler-dryer is my latest discovery as it shortens the process of drying and styling. I smooth my hair out and curl my ends very quickly and nearly effortlessly. A hairdresser salon effect is guaranteed!
Acid peeling
Cloudy winter days are a good moment for introducing acid peeling into your facial care routine. During the treatment, avoiding UV radiation and using moisturizers with a high SPF (50+) is best. Using these products in the spring and summer carries the risk of sunburn and irritation which is why I always leave them for winter. The acid exfoliates dead skin, helps in the fight against discolouration, moisturizes and adds shine to the skin. By going for acid peelings you don’t have to worry about unaesthetic-looking flakes coming off of your face. Remember, however, to use sunscreens all year round.
Body butter
Rich and oily body butters soothe my dry and chapped skin excellently – especially on my hands, elbows, and knees. In the summer, this product is gone from my shelves and replaced with lightweight lotions. I looove going back to using butters in the wintertime. I choose the ones that contain Shea butter, cocoa butter, and natural oils: argan, castor, jojoba, grape or coconut oil. Body butters can be characterized by being rather heavy and oily but they absorb into the skin very quickly – they’re literally perfect for the winter!
Hair oils
During the long evenings, I pay more attention to my hair and I focus on nourishing it ‘from the inside’. The best way to do that is by doing oil treatments. I choose natural, unrefined oils – they take care of the ends best as they contain a myriad of vitamins and nurturing ingredients. Castor oil is my favourite one as it smooths my hair, moisturizes it and protects the strands from mechanical damage and split ends. I apply on the entire hair and brush it into my scalp, then I do a little bun and leave it for a couple of hours. Next, I wash the strands and my scalp twice. I do the treatment 1-2 times a week and my hair is shiny even in the winter.

A heavy face cream
Skin protection is crucial when it’s freezy outside. It’s best to shield it from cold with a heavier face cream. I eliminate water-based creams and replace them with ones composed of nurturing oils. Winter facial creams soothe my sensitive skin instantly, giving me a comfortable feeling of hydration. They also ease itching and irritation. Formulas enriched with butters, oils, and other valuable-for-the-skin vitamins promote skin regeneration in the winter as its condition usually gets worse.
Enjoy winter and don’t forget about proper hair and skin care 🙂 Thanks for being here and I invite you to read the rest of my entries!
